Can Spirituality and Ambition Walk Together?

I want to create meaningful work, reach people and build a material life. I also do not want achievement to own me.

Art requires ambition. A performance does not reach a stage through intention alone. It needs discipline, money, communication, courage and the willingness to be seen. Spiritual practice does not remove these realities.

Work without becoming the result

The Bhagavad Gita returns me to a difficult idea: I can be devoted to the action without demanding that the result prove my worth. This is not passivity. It may actually ask for more serious work, because the work is no longer only a transaction with applause.

I still want opportunities, resources and recognition. The practice is to notice when desire becomes fear, comparison or identity. Then I try to return to the next honest action: train, write, edit, speak, rest, begin again.
